Sacramento Wedding DJ
Well, last night presented me with the most amazing looking wedding party I have ever seen! I felt as if I was amongst models. Mallory and Doug had a really memorable ceremony with touching vows, and an officiant that didn't just recite a bunch of words, he made it personal and intimate, really nice!!
In Monte Verde fashion, the lambchops and the scallops were incredible, as was the super fresh dinner buffet featuring tri tip with lingonberry chipotle BBQ sauce, wow!
We wasted no time getting to the dance party, which lasted a solid two hours. Their party bus took them to the 'afterparty,' which is huge nowadays at weddings.
It really was a perfect evening....

Monte Verde Inn Wedding - Foresthill Wedding DJ
Sacramento Wedding DJ
Just last night, I played for Matt and Cassie at the glorious Monte Verde Inn! Decor was full of damask patterns, very black and white, and the guest count was around 50 or so. I worked alongside Jodi Yorston Photography who is always a kick to be around!
Highlights from their wedding include some super-funny open mic'd toasts, a color coordinated candy buffet that still has me buzzin', and a bride that literally demanded that her guests dance all night long!!! Needless to say, full dancefloor from start to finish, with a spotlight on Matt and his boys stopping the music to sing to Cassie, a la Top Gun style!!

Alicia and Craig married last night at the stunning Monte Verde Inn! They are both accomplished Ironman athletes, cool people and great personalities. They went for simple elegance and it was quite a social affair!
Craig's Mom produced a video montage which I presented right before their first dance, and then the party began. This really has been the year of the 'dance party.' I have made a point to start the newer party music earlier during open dancing than in previous years, which has definitely led to wilder, crazier times!! This was no different, as we wasted no time getting to it once our 'Anniversary Dance' landed us the longest married couple of 63 years!
They were dancing on the benches, in circles doing a danceoff, snaking around the dancefloor, and just yelling and screaming with each song transition!
This was my kinda wedding!!

Monte Verde Inn Wedding - Jillian and Timothy
Enthusiastic....that desribes Timothy better than any other adjective I can think of. Last night, I played DJ / MC for Tim and Jillian at The Monte Verde Inn, my home away from home! I had met with them many months prior to wedding day, and knew immediately that Tim had a passion for life, an eye for detail, and a serious love for his bride-to-be. Jillian was incredibly sweet, cute and very kind.
On wedding day, he had video cams setup, had guests assigned to the cameras, was checking his list of photos not to be missed by my old friend Anne Mask. The ceremony was conducted by their personal friend, who really did a nice job.
MVI provided a great dinner, a tasty cake and then came party time! It was still light out when we began dancing, and the dancefloor INSTANTLY filled up! Tim and Jillian were determined to have a lively dance party, and their participation was infectious. These Sunday guests partied like it was a Saturday, and did so enthusiastically!

Monte Verde Inn Open House
Sacramento Wedding Reception DJ
This past Saturday afternoon, I had the pleasure of being one of the preferred vendors showcasing their 'goods' at the MVI open house, which is a spectacular event! Kelly and Doug showcase their goods to all of their 2011 couples. On display were newly decorated suites, a colorful and new candy bar, incredible cuisine from all menus and soooooo much more. It was truly a great day and an even greater event.

Brett and Andrea at The Monte Verde Inn

I just got home from a http://www.monteverdeinn.net/ wedding that one can't help but remember. Andrea was sooooo into the details of her wedding. She was in love with purple...purple flowers, purple bridesmaids dresses, purple uplighting by yours' truly....lots of purple! It's no small task to serve 180 people, but Kelly, Doug, Annette and staff were on their game tonight, it was highly impressive. I had the good fortune of working with http://www.fordfamilyphotography.com/ for the fourth wedding in a row, and Rebecca and Barry make every wedding go incredibly smooth, one just can't explain the level of service they provide. The coolest detail of the day was when I introduced the wedding party and newlyweds to their guests....they formed a small circle and quickly coordinated a monarch butterfly release, to the surprise of everyone! Fast forward, we danced for 90 solid minutes to new, old and everything in-between. It was truly great fun. http://www.sjsdiscjockey.com/

Make It Yours
One of my big 'pushes' this year is to encourage couples to make their reception 'custom.' What exactly does that mean? Well, there are DJ's who say, 'I will make your reception the best EVER!' That's a pretty big statement if you ask me, and I realize it's more of a marketing ploy than a reality, but what I am really trying to encourage is making the events of your wedding day unique, fun and personalized. For example, when you are ready to join your guests at your reception, we DJ's usually introduce the members of your wedding party by name, and then bring you, the newlyweds in to an enthusiastic inflection in our voice, and a fun song in the background, in hopes of bringing your guests to their feet. Sounds nice, yes? It is nice. But....whenever I take it to a more personal level, which I will explain shortly, guests always come by and compliment the cool intros we just delivered. What I am referring to is introducing your wedding party one by one by one, with a unique song for each playing, and at the same time I am reading a cool, funny bio about them that you would write (and not tell them). So, all of a sudden, they are walking in to a story that pokes fun at them, your guests are laughing and clapping, and you, the newlyweds, get to soak it all in as the last couple to be introduced.
That is just one of many ingredients that you can personalize that your guests will hopefully remember from your wedding; I have many more to share.

Anna and Mike - Monte Verde Inn

Okay, so we know that I am lucky enough to frequently DJ weddings at the Monte Verde Inn, my absolute fav wedding venue, for so many reasons.... And when you think you have seen all of the various combinations of decor at MVI, Catriona from Arcularius Events put together a lounge and curtains which added a whole new dimension to the Inn. When I invited guests onto the 'lounge' dance area for the 1st dance, they never left, because they were loungin'. Anna and Mike started out dancing to 'You Are The Best Thing,' then shocked their guests with a little 'Bust a Move!' It was really a great evening, and guests danced til the very end. Hope A&M are having fun in Costa Rica...

Monte Verde Inn - Justin and Megan Ussery

How cool is it to have a Halloween wedding, at the finest venue around(www.monteverdeinn.net), outdoors, and have 75 degree weather? Love that!! Justin and Megan were married by 3pm, and what struck me most about their reception was Justin's twin brother Joel's toast. I wish I had videotaped it, it was the most emotional toast I have seen in a LONG time. Randy Pach captured it on his still cam though. They had a very cool group of guests, dinner was fabulous as always, my photobooth was rockin' all night long, and once we started dancing, they didn't want to stop! The surprise (to me) big song of the night was Devo's "Whip It." Congrats to the Ussery's.

Monte Verde Inn - Open House
I am always honored to be the preferred DJ for the Monte Verde Inn. I'm really looking forward to the open house this weekend, as I will be there to say a few words, meet all the newlyweds-to-be, and show off my new photo booth! There will be a few surprises in store for the day as well. Also there should be Rebecca and Barry from http://www.fordfamilyphotography.com/, Mike Jensen from http://www.jensenfilms.com/, Judge Tom Cecil from www.sacramentoweddingofficiant.com, http://www.oshaysflowers.com/ and many more of my favorites!
